When Did My Journey with Western Calligraphy Begin?
I loved writing and drawing since childhood. In my free time, I often copied texts from books, magazines, or newspaper headlines as a way to relax.
My journey of Western calligraphy began with an oblique pen from a close friend, then, I start looking for how to use the pen online. I was instantly captivated when I saw its elegant letterforms.
Like many beginners, I assumed it would be simple to write only 26 alphabets. But during years of self-study, I stumbled through countless challenges and setbacks. When I felt stuck, I sought guidance from master calligraphers worldwide, which opened my eyes to the depth of this art. From then on, I became deeply devoted to it.
Through my learning experiences, I discovered various techniques and solutions to common learning hurdles. This inspired me to share my knowledge with others, also turning it into my mission.
In 2016, I resigned from my financial job of over 25 years to become a full-time Western calligraphy instructor. I continue to learn and explore new aspects of different script while focusing on teaching methods. Interacting with students has brought me immense joy and fresh insights, reinforcing my commitment to preserving and promoting traditional Western calligraphy.
